It's that time of the year again: the first pilgrims destined for Lourdes on the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage are en route. A coach for youth travelling overland left Lancaster first thing this morning, but will not arrive in Lourdes until after those travelling by air - two flights go from Manchester tomorrow. A number of Cathedral parishioners (but this year no priests!) will be on the pilgrimage, and it is heartening to know that despite the economic situation a record number of young people are making the journey this year.
